Interstate 8: Sentinel Rest Area Rehabilitation

Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation is rehabilitating the Interstate 8 Sentinel Rest Area at milepost 83. The work consists of rehabilitating the east- and westbound rest areas to include renovating existing restroom buildings, pavement markings and signage, improving the parking lot, adding ADA compliance upgrades, rehabilitation of the existing water and wastewater systems, and other related work items.

Project Area 

The project is located in Maricopa County along I-8 in Sentinel at milepost 83.

What to expect

The project began in late November 2021 with completion anticipated in early spring 2023.

Travelers may continue to use the Mohawk Rest Area along I-8 at milepost 56. Mohawk Rest Area is located 50 miles east of Yuma and 11 miles west of Dateland.
