Overview

Project Cost: $2.1 million

The Arizona Department of Transportation has completed a pavement preservation project on State Route 260 in the Fort Apache Indian Reservation (mileposts 357-361). The project, which is just south of Pinetop-Lakeside, was completed in fall 2022.

 

Project Elements

The proposed work consists of removing and replacing existing asphaltic concrete, replacing pavement markings and other related work along the four-mile section of SR 260.

Additional work will include, but is not limited to:

  • Removal and replacement of damaged concrete around the culvert.
  • Removal of vegetation, as needed.
  • Removing and replacing pavement on the shoulder, as needed.

The work will require the temporary removal of guardrail to create an access route to the work areas as well as installing temporary traffic control devices along the roadway while the repair work is underway.

 

What to Expect During Construction

SR 260 will be reduced to one lane only in the work zone with alternating east- and westbound lane closures controlled by flaggers and a pilot car.
