Drivers should expect delays and allow extra travel time

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan ahead for lane restrictions on State Route 85 near Buckeye beginning Monday, Nov. 8, at 7:00 a.m.

Contractors are scheduled to begin paving the road as part of the SR 85 pavement preservation project between mileposts 142.3 and 148.85.

Drivers should plan for the following restrictions through January:

  • SR 85 will be reduced to one lane Mondays through Fridays from  7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Note: Restrictions will be lifted for holidays on Thursday, Nov. 11 (Veterans Day), Thursday, Nov. 25 (Thanksgiving Day), Friday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve), and Friday, Dec. 31 (New Years Eve).
  • Motorists should anticipate a 2-mile lane closure as workers move through the work zone.
  • A 16-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place.
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph.
  • Flaggers and a pilot truck will direct motorists through the workzone.
