Motorists should plan for daytime travel delays of up to 20 minutes on Stockton Hill Road between Fountain Hills Road and Cedar Canyon Drive through June

Drivers should allow extra travel time

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for daytime travel delays of up to 20 minutes  through the end of June as work is underway on Stockton Hill Road safety improvements.

Motorists should be prepared to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while the following daytime restrictions are in place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays through the end of June:

  • Stockton Hill Road will be narrowed to one lane only with alternating north- and southbound travel between Fountain Hills Road and Cedar Canyon Drive.
  • A pilot car and flaggers will guide vehicles through the work zone.
  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.

The $500,000 highway safety improvement project includes the installation of centerline and edgeline rumble strips, an asphalt seal coat over the new rumble strips, new pavement markings and LED-enhanced speed radar signs. The rumble strips are a safety measure to help minimize crashes.
