Deferment Eligibility

Am I Eligible For The Six Month Deferment?

Some violations may be eligible to remove the Interlock device after 6 months. Contact an MVD or Authorized Third Party office if you feel you may be eligible.

You may be eligible if:

• The violation was on or after January 1, 2012
• The violation was not an extreme DUI
• There was no accident involved
• You completed at least 16 hours of substance abuse education
• There were no violations during the first 6 months.
• It has been at least 6 months since your reinstatement date
• 2nd 6 months is a “probationary period”. 

If you are approved for the deferment, a “Ignition Interlock Deferment” letter will be uploaded to your AZ MVD Now account and will be mailed to your current address on file.
