Driver Screening and Counseling Resources
Driver Screening and Counseling Resources
If you've received certain driving violations, you may need to complete screening, treatment, or education programs before your driving privileges can be restored.
Types of Services Available
Screening Services
MVD-ordered screening involves a face-to-face interview that lasts between 30 minutes and 3 hours and is conducted by a licensed behavioral health professional or technician. They must administer at least one standardized test for measuring alcohol dependency or substance abuse.
Note: Lab results alone are not acceptable for DUI screening requirements. You must complete the full screening process with an approved provider.
Treatment Programs
Treatment is based upon the information and results obtained from the DUI screening agency or referring court. Includes 16 hours of education and at least 20 hours of group counseling that is provided by a behavioral health technician or professional.
Education Classes
Education programs consist of at least 16 hours of classroom instruction provided in an in-person setting. These classes are only for Ignition Interlock deferments.
Evidence Based Psychotherapy
Evidence Based Psychotherapy is psychotherapy services offered by a psychologist licensed pursuant to Title 32, Chapter 19.1 who integrates the best available scientific research with clinical expertise based on the context of the patient's characteristics, culture, and preferences.
