Property and Evidence
Property and Evidence
The Property & Evidence Unit is responsible for receiving, documenting, storing and maintaining the integrity and security of all items of property and evidence submitted by the Arizona Department of Transportation, Enforcement and Compliance Division. In addition to receiving and maintaining control of these items, Property & Evidence staff has the responsibility of monitoring and arranging disposition of each item as soon as possible. Items are released to the lawful owner, converted to department use, donated to local charities, scheduled for destruction, or sold to the general public through auction.
Found Property
The Arizona Department of Transportation, Enforcement and Compliance Division defines found property as “recovered, lost, surrendered, abandoned or otherwise received property that is turned over to a public agency where the owner may or not be known and that is not classified as evidence.” Pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes 12-940, 12-941, 12-942, 12-944, and 12-945, a listing of unclaimed property will be published on a monthly basis and expire 30 days after publication.
