A Sold Notice notifies us that your vehicle has transferred ownership. It’s important to submit a Sold Notice as soon as you sell, trade, end a lease, donate, or transfer ownership of your vehicle.

This free service protects you and ensures accurate ownership records.

Why submit a Sold Notice?

A Sold Notice may help protect you from potential legal problems if the vehicle you sold is:

  • Used for criminal activity
  • Involved in an accident
  • Ticketed for violations
  • Abandoned (which carries a $500 fee or higher)

Without a Sold Notice: MVD records may still show you as the owner, meaning you could be held responsible for fees and violations that occur after the sale.

How to submit a Sold Notice

Online (Quickest and Easiest)
Complete your Sold Notice online at AZMVDNow.gov.

By Mail
Complete the sold notice form on the back of your vehicle registration and mail it to MVD or Complete a Sold Notice Form and mail it to MVD.
