Signal, Lighting and Electrical Techs

Signal, Lighting and Electrical Technicians (SLATE) perform vital work that keep transportation systems online and operating. This includes doing inspections, installation, maintenance and repairs on traffic signals, roadway lighting, pump stations, tunnels, intelligent transportation systems and utility locating.

The SLATE series has multiple levels – entry-level, intermediate and advanced – and employees can advance based on experience and qualifications. Those with knowledge of or an interest in learning about electronic, mechanical and utility systems will find fulfilling work.  SLATE positions are part of ADOT’s Project Delivery and Operations Division (PDO).
