ADOT's Transportation Intern Program has provided me with tremendous opportunities to gain experience and knowledge while actively pursuing my degree. I started my ADOT journey as an intern in Environmental Planning Group (EPG), where I gained insight into the NEPA process and how much it impacts the progress of federal transportation projects. I transferred to the newly revamped $2.1 million Transportation Operations Center (TOC), where I learned how ADOT manages traffic incidents all across Arizona. At the TOC, I gained experience as an operator using DPS, computer-aided dispatch and highway cameras to identify traffic incidents then using messaging signs and AZ511 to alert commuters. Currently, I am with Bridge Group's design section, developing a basic understanding of the bridge-design process. ADOT has a plethora of transportation divisions to suit the specific interests of all interns. This is an astounding opportunity for personal engineering development, and I am truly grateful that I am taking advantage of it."

"I started as an intern with the Office of Audit and Analysis in 2016, working with the MVD audit team.Throughout the 1.5 years I was in the intern program, I was encouraged and allowed to suggest improvements to the processes I used and interacted with. The supervisors and managers were also very flexible, and permitted a wild work schedule that fit around my school schedule each semester. As the time for my graduation neared, I was encouraged to apply to some vacancies in the Audit department, and was eventually offered a full time position in the agency. My choice to join ADOT’s Intern Program was one of the best and most influential decisions I’ve made in my life, and I’d encourage anyone to take the opportunity if they get it."
