ADOT’s Name-A-Snowplow Contest is back!

A snowplow on an icy highway plowing snow.

ADOT’s Name-A-Snowplow Contest is back again and we’re asking for Arizonans to help name a few of our snowplows!

When winter storms roll through our state, ADOT’s snowplow operators work tirelessly to clear highways of ice and snow, helping keep travelers safer and communities connected. I am grateful for their dedication and service.

This contest is a fun way to remind the public of the important work that our snowplow operators do and offer winter driving tips for motorists so we can all get home safely.

The contest is open for submissions through Feb. 2 at azdot.gov/nameaplow. You can submit as many names as you’d like. We’ll then go through the entries and narrow down the list to 12-15 finalists and turn it back to you all to vote on your favorites.

The four names with the most votes will be placed on our snowplows (and those who submitted the winning names will get bragging rights).

If you need any inspiration, some previous winners are Alice Scooper, Fast and Flurryous and Blizzard of Oz.

And remember: If you encounter any of our snowplows on state highways, make sure you don’t tailgate the plow and leave at least four car-lengths of space between you and the plow. Never pass the plow – let it clear the way!

I’m excited to see what creative names Arizonans come up with!
