John Bullen, Assistant Executive Director and Chief Transportation Officer for the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG), joined On the Road With ADOT recently to discuss Phoenix-area projects starting this year under Proposition 479. That voter-approved meaure continues Maricopa County's dedicated half-cent sales tax for transportation for another 20 years.

That is exciting on its own. But feels imcomplete to focus on what comes next without looking at the legacy of Proposition 400, which for 20 years funded major transportation projects through MAG's partnership with ADOT.

John graciously returns in this week's episode to discuss how Proposition 400 has shaped the region's sucess through projects such as the recently completed I-10 Broadway Curve improvement, the Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway), Loop 303 (Estrella Freeway) and State Route 24 (Gateway Freeway). There's also a nod to smaller but impactful improvements such as restriping the northbound I-17 exit at Loop 303 as an interim measure to ease congestion.

Proposition 400 continues to reward Maricopa County's investment through projects such as widening Loop 101 between I-17 and 75th Avenue and in north Scottsdale and widening Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) in the Southeast Valley.

It's difficult to have John in studio without once again looking forward to projects that start this year, such as upgrading the Loop 303 interchange at I-17 and widening west of there. And he does that as well with host Doug Nintzel.

Spend a few minutes with On the Road With ADOT and I hope you'll be as excited as we are about this partnership driving critical transportation improvements in the Phoenix area.
