It's been a big 2025 for Phoenix-area freeways, including completion of the I-10 Broadway Curve improvement and continuing work to widen two stretches of Loop 101 and a stretch of the Loop 202 Santan Freeway in the Southeast Valley.
And more is on the horizon for 2026. That includes launching projects to provide freeway-to-freeway connections between Interstate 17 and Loop 303 in the North Valley and, in the West Valley, extend Loop 303 from Van Buren Street to MC 85. The latter looks toward a connection with the future State Route 30.
That's why Randy Everett, ADOT's Central District Administrator, joins this week's episode of On the Road With ADOT. Randy explains what goes into constructing and maintaining freeways and highways in Arizona's most populous region. As Randy notes, improvements that are underway and planned for 2026 are possible thanks to a regional half-cent sales tax for transportation improvement projects in the metro Phoenix area and planning and prioritization by the Maricopa Association of Governments.
We're looking forward to a big year for Valley freeways. Spend a few minutes with Randy and host Doug Nintzel and you'll be in the know.
