PSA highlights how not to behave in the office and in the work zone

There are certain things people shouldn’t do in an office setting — talking loudly over the phone and disturbing others, stealing lunches that don’t belong to them or microwaving fish (and causing a massive stink). It’s courteous behavior that shows they’re aware and respect the people around them.

To help raise awareness about work zone safety during Work Zone Awareness Week, ADOT is releasing a public service announcement video featuring an office worker breaking all those social norms and extending that bad behavior to using his phone while driving in a work zone.

(Don’t worry, we didn’t actually have someone break the law and scroll on their phone while driving. That was safely green screened. No one was injured in the filming of this PSA.)

An office worker’s place of work is in a physical building. But for an ADOT highway tech or construction worker, their “office” is on or near the highway in a work zone. If you wouldn’t behave poorly in an office, don’t do it in their place of work, the work zone.

Beyond just being courteous, it’s the law. Fines can double if you’re caught speeding in a work zone. Respect the safety of construction zone workers in their “office” by slowing down, driving alert, following signage and minimizing distractions.
