An ADOT tweetstorm about the big storm

Our plows have been working 24/7 to keep up with the snow and clear the roads. Please DON'T pass #snowplows and stay at least 4 vehicle lengths behind a plow. #azwx #aztraffic pic.twitter.com/W7oaNK6PvU

It's been a busy couple of days at ADOT as Mother Nature has unleashed this furious winter storm. We appreciate those of you who heeded our advice to delay travel with snow and heavy rain falling across much of the state. And we appreciate the efforts of ADOT's snowplow drivers and other staff members who have worked around the clock during this monumental storm.
For today's blog, here are some of our weather-related tweets since Thursday morning, including on-the-scene reports from Flagstaff by our own Doug Nintzel:

Our camera on SR 260 in Heber shows the barricades for the closure between Heber and Star Valley. As with all winter closures, we don't have an estimated time to reopen the highway. #aztraffic #azwx pic.twitter.com/BPL3ugNTWg

I-17 just south of Flagstaff. Delay travel in northern Arizona until after the storm passes because of extremely difficult driving conditions. We can't predict if a highway will close, but closures are possible due to ice, snow or crashes. #aztraffic #azwx pic.twitter.com/QAtlOL4gl7

Thanks to the @NWSPhoenix, we now know this is small hail, or graupel, with reports of it sticking and making for slick conditions along I-17 in the north Valley. Here is what our cameras are seeing. #azwx #phxtraffic pic.twitter.com/qzTxNGzERc

AVOID TRAVEL during the winter storm. If you decide to travel, leave prepared for the possibility that you’ll spend extended time in winter conditions due to road closures and extreme conditions. #azwx #aztraffic pic.twitter.com/AK9T5fkJ2G
