Interstate 17 pavement project between State Route 74 and Anthem Way set to begin
Overnight restrictions begin June 29 at Anthem Way
The Arizona Department of Transportation is scheduled to start work for a pavement improvement project on Interstate 17 from State Route 74 to Anthem Way.
Initial work will focus on sidewalk modifications and guardrail replacements near interchanges, including the I-17 intersection with Anthem Way. Crews will be working during overnight hours and no full cross street or ramp closures are scheduled during the project’s initial stage.
ADOT advises drivers to plan for the following overnight restrictions in north Phoenix:
OVERNIGHT RESTRICTIONS JUNE 29 - JULY 3
- Westbound Anthem Way at I-17 will be narrowed to two through lanes nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Sunday, June 29, and ending Thursday morning, July 3, for sidewalk work. NOTE: Both left turn lanes onto southbound I-17 will remain open.
- The southbound I-17 off-ramp at Anthem Way will be narrowed to one lane nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Sunday, June 29, and ending Wednesday morning, July 2.
- The northbound frontage road west of I-17 by the Outlets at Anthem will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Sunday, June 29, and ending Tuesday morning, July 1.
- Detour: Drivers may consider using northbound 43rd Avenue as an alternate route.
- The northbound I-17 on-ramp at Anthem Way will be narrowed to one lane from 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, to 6 a.m., Thursday, July 3.
