Weekend Restrictions July 18-21

  • 51st Avenue will be closed at the Loop 101 interchange from 10 p.m. Friday, July 18, to 5 a.m. Monday, July 21 for bridge girder work. NOTE: No pedestrian access through the underpass will be permitted during this work.
    • DETOUR: Drivers may use 59th Avenue to travel north or south of the Loop 101
    • The westbound frontage road (Beardsley Road) also will be closed between 35th and 51st Avenues during this time.
  • The eastbound frontage road will have rolling closures between 51st and 35th avenues from 6 a.m. to noon on Sunday, July 20. 
    • NOTE: The rolling closures are expected to cause delays of up to 30 minutes as equipment travels through the intersections.


Westbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) on-ramp at 35th Avenue now open

The Arizona Department of Transportation reopened the westbound Loop 101 on-ramp at 35th Avenue on July 13, following a weeks-long closure for reconstruction as part of the Loop 101 widening project between 75th Avenue and Interstate 17.

 

LONG-TERM RAMP CLOSURES

Eastbound Loop 101 off-ramp at 51st Avenue will be closed for approximately 60 days beginning 11:30 p.m. Monday, July 21.

  • DETOUR: Drivers may exit at 59th Avenue and use either the frontage road (Beardsley Road) or Union Hills Drive to reach 51st Avenue.

Eastbound Loop 101 off-ramp at 27th Avenue will be closed for approximately 60 days beginning 11:30 p.m. Monday, July 21.

  • DETOUR: Drivers may exit at 35th Avenue and use either the frontage road (Beardsley Road) or Union Hills Drive to reach 27th Avenue.

Westbound Loop 101 on-ramp at 35th Avenue closed for approximately 60 days beginning 11:30 p.m., Monday, May 12.
Expected to open Sunday, July 13.

  • DETOUR: Drivers may use on-ramps at 27th or 51st avenues to access westbound Loop 101.

Westbound Loop 101 off-ramp at 51st Avenue closed for approximately 60 days beginning 11:30 p.m., Monday, May 19.
Expected to open Saturday, July 19.

  • DETOUR: Drivers may consider using the westbound Loop 101 off-ramp at 59th Avenue, then travel south to eastbound Union Hills Drive to reach 51st Avenue.

Eastbound Loop 101 on-ramp at 59th Avenue will be closed for approximately 60 days beginning 11:30 p.m., Monday, May 19.
Expected to open Saturday, July 19.

  • DETOUR: Drivers may consider using eastbound Union Hills Drive to 51st Avenue to access eastbound Loop 101

ONGOING RESTRICTIONS

Lane restrictions are ongoing at the following locations for bridge work and frontage road improvements.

At the 51st and 35th avenue interchanges:

  • All on- and off-ramps will be narrowed to one lane
  • The left-turn lane for both east- and westbound on-ramps will be narrowed to one lane
  • 51st and 35th avenues will be narrowed to one lane under Loop 101

At the 31st Avenue interchange:

  • The 31st Avenue shoulders will be closed under Loop 101. Pedestrian access is still available.

Frontage roads:

Much of the work on the frontage roads was completed in March 2025. Short-term periodic restrictions on the frontage roads may be needed in the future.
