Graduated License (Class G)

Graduated License (Class G)

If you are at least 16, but less than 18, years of age you will be issued a graduated driver license that is valid to operate any vehicle that does not require a motorcycle or commercial driver license.

See Graduated Driver License Requirements

Note: A parent or legal guardian will be required to assist a teen driver in applying for and earning a Graduated Driver License. An explanation of a parent's or legal guardian's roles and responsibilities can be found here.

An applicant holding an out-of-state driver license is exempt from the driver education / driving practice and instruction permit requirements. The applicant will be required to follow the restrictions stated above for the first six months that the original Class G license is held.

A graduated license holder is not required to obtain an operator license at age 18, but may choose to do so.
