AZ Travel ID to have a prominent place in Gold Rush Days Parade

PHOENIX – While Wickenburg celebrates the 72nd Annual Gold Rush Days, the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division will join the festivities by reminding people to avoid a last-minute rush to get the AZ Travel ID.  The MVD mobile office will be in the parade route Saturday, February 15, with AZ Travel ID information displayed for the crowd.

“The MVD entry will be hard to miss,” said MVD Stakeholder Relations Manager Jennifer Bowser Richards. “It’s a beautiful 38-foot RV that is wrapped in Arizona symbols and colors, and we’ve added banners that have AZ Travel ID messaging including the aztravelid.com website.”

The AZ Travel ID is a driver license or ID card that meets the requirements of the federal REAL ID Act. That law requires new ID rules for federal TSA checkpoints that will go into effect on October 1.  Air travelers who don’t have the AZ Travel ID or another federally accepted form of ID such as a Passport or military photo ID risk missing their flight once the new rules become effective.

Documents required for getting the AZ Travel ID include one form of proof of ID such as an original birth certificate or valid Passport, a document that contains all nine digits of the customer’s Social Security number, and two documents that prove Arizona residency. The residency documents must have the customer name and physical address as P.O. Box addresses are not accepted under the REAL ID Act.
