The Arizona Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) began a project late March 2025 to repair the pavement on Interstate 10 between Salome Road (milepost 80) and Tonopah (milepost 90).

Recently, we were asked on social media about merging into a center left-turn lane on a surface street:

  • The eastbound Loop 202 on-ramp at Alma School Road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14. Eastbound Loop 202 also will be narrowed to three lanes between Alma School Road and Arizona Avenue. 

DETOUR: Drivers can use either Pecos or Germann roads to Arizona Avenue to access eastbound Loop 202.

 

Ongoing lane restrictions 

  • Westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) will continue to be narrowed to three lanes in the area of the Loop 202 and Loop 101 interchange ramp to the Loop 202 off-ramp at Price Road for pavement removal/replacement and drainage installation.

 

LONG-TERM RAMP CLOSURES (Approximately 60 days):

Eastbound Loop 202 on-ramp at Alma School Road is now open.
 

Westbound Loop 202 on-ramp at Alma School Road closed 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, for approximately 60 days for ramp reconstruction.

  • Detour: Drivers may consider using the westbound Loop 202 on-ramps at Arizona Avenue or Price Road.

Eastbound Loop 202 off-ramp at Arizona Avenue closed 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, for approximately 60 days for ramp reconstruction.

  • DETOUR: Drivers may consider using the eastbound Loop 202 off-ramps at Alma School or McQueen roads.

 

NOTE: Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors.

Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation initiated a new project to increase truck parking in rest areas along Interstate 40 and Interstate 17 in Arizona. The rest areas and approximate dates of construction include: 

  • I-40: Parks Rest Area - 12 miles west

Northbound Interstate 17 will be closed at Jomax Road in north Phoenix this weekend from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 9) for ongoing pavement improvement work. Learn more here.
