Drivers should expect delays and allow extra travel time

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for east- and westbound lane restrictions on Interstate 10 in Tonopah beginning Sunday, June 15.

The following restrictions will occur nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Sunday, June 15, through Friday, June 20, for paving:

• East- and westbound I-10 between Salome Road and Tonopah (milepost 90) will be reduced to one lane. Note: Only one direction will be impacted at a time. Motorists should anticipate a 2 to 3-mile lane restriction while crews progress through the work zone.  
• A 12-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place. 
• The speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph.

The following daytime lane restrictions will occur  from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday, June 16, through Friday, June 20, for guardrail installation and shoulder build up operations: 

• West- and eastbound I-10 between Salome Road and Tonopah (milepost 90) will be reduced to one lane. Note: Motorists should anticipate a 2 to 3-mile lane restriction while crews progress through the work zone.  
• A 12-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place. 
• The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph.

The following overpass restrictions will continue 24 hours a day, seven days a week through the end of June:

• The north- and southbound Salome Road overpass will be reduced to one lane with alternating traffic control via a temporary signal.
• An 11-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place. 
• The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph. 

Drivers should plan for delays, obey posted speed limits and traffic control devices and use caution around construction personnel.
