Drivers should expect delays and allow extra travel time

The Arizona Department of Transportation, in coordination with the City of San Luis, advises motorists to plan ahead for traffic shifts, reduced speed limit and a vehicle width restriction on Cesar Chavez Boulevard (SR 195) in San Luis. 

The following traffic shift will occur beginning Wednesday, March 25, through summer 2026. 

  • The east- and westbound travel lanes between 10th Avenue and Avenue E on Cesar Chavez Boulevard will be shifted to the northside of the roadway starting at 8 a.m. 

The following restrictions will be in place for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, through the construction zone starting :

  • Cesar Chavez Boulevard between Avenue 10E and Avenue E will have an 11-foot width restriction and speed limit reduction at 30 mph.

Contractors are scheduled to begin constructing Phase 1, which includes widening of Cesar Chavez Boulevard to a four lane divided roadway.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction and law enforcement personnel and equipment.
