The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers in Gilbert to plan for the north- and southbound Higley Road to be narrowed to two lanes Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. beginning Thursday, July 11. Drivers will still be able to make left turns to east- and westbound Germann Road. This work is part of a local intersection improvement project. Some weekend work may be expected.

ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while the construction work is underway.

Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation, in coordination with the town of Gilbert, is making improvements at the intersection of Higley and Germann roads. This is a Local Public Agency (LPA) project administered by ADOT. It is being funded by the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) and the local public agency.

About the Project

The project intersection is located at Higley and Germann roads in the town of Gilbert.

Improvements include:

  • Modifying the raised median curbs at the intersection

  • Restriping the left-turn lanes to improve sight distance

  • Minor signage and pavement marking improvements

  • Installing new intersection street light poles in the median 

What to Expect

  • Work will take place Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Traffic control will be up around the clock. Some night and weekend work may be required.

  • No full closures are planned.

  • Through lanes will be restricted to two lanes.

  • No impact to property access.

Project Schedule

The project is scheduled to begin April 1, 2024. Construction is anticipated to take approximately three months to complete.
