Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation began work in late January 2026 on improvements to several cross streets along I-10. There are two areas of Phoenix where the work will take place:

  • Seventh Street at Interstate 10, with improvements taking place both north and south of the interchange.
  • Elliot, Warner and Ray roads, and Chandler Boulevard, with all improvements taking place west of I-10.

Project Elements

  • Milling existing asphalt and placing new asphalt and striping to match existing conditions.
  • Reconstructing curb ramps and driveways at various locations to be compliant with Americans with Disability Act (ADA) guidelines.
  • Repairing pavement and adding new curbs and gutters in some locations.
  • Replacing sidewalk, curb and gutter at the westbound I-10 on-ramps (Seventh Street only.)
  • Replacing existing sidewalk, median pavers and tree grates at various locations.

What To Expect

  • Construction started in January 2026 and is expected to last eight months.
  • Work is expected to take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
  • Daily lane restrictions will be needed on the cross streets, at times.
  • Temporary closures of the westbound I-10 on- and off-ramps at Seventh Street are expected.
  • Business and residential access will be maintained, except for temporary, brief rolling lane closures.
