Overview
The Arizona State Legislature approved funding for fiscal year 2023 to construct a screen wall on the south side of eastbound Loop 101 near 16th Street.
Project Elements
- The screen wall will be built along the south side of eastbound Loop 101, just east of 13th Street to the existing wall located just east of 16th Street.
- The wall will be approximately 1,800 feet long.
- The height of the screen wall will vary from 14 to 20 feet.
- The existing wall along the north side of the eastbound Loop 101 frontage road (Beardsley Road) will be removed.

Project Schedule
Construction began in July 2023. The work is anticipated to take approximately 11 months.
What to Expect During Construction
- Work will mostly occur during daylight hours. Some night work will be required for concrete pouring and related work used to make the walls.
- Work will be done with minimal restrictions on the eastbound Loop 101 frontage road (Beardsley Road).
- The installation of the screen wall on the south side of the 16th Street bridge will require some weekend lane restrictions on 16th Street and the eastbound Loop 101 frontage road (Beardsley Road).
- ADOT will share information about specific lane restrictions or closures as it becomes available and will provide advance notice of restrictions and closures.

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises residents to be aware that work to build screen walls
along a section of eastbound Loop 101 near 16th Street is scheduled to begin Monday, July 24.
