Upcoming road restrictions schedule through Nov. 21 for the Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) Improvement Project – Interstate 17 to Pima Road

Pima Freeway Map Nov 15 - 18Drivers who use the Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) between Interstate 17 in Phoenix and Pima Road in Scottsdale should slow down in the construction zone and use caution while the following restrictions are in place:

Weekend Closures & Restrictions

32nd Street at the Pima Freeway

  • North- and southbound 32nd Street will be closed at the Pima Freeway from 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18.
    • Detour: Use Rose Garden Lane or Beardsley Road to Cave Creek Road to cross the Pima Freeway and access 32nd Street.

Pima Freeway from Hayden to Scottsdale roads

  • The Pima Freeway will be restricted to two lanes in both directions between Hayden and Scottsdale roads from 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, as construction continues on the new Loop 101 bridge at the future Miller Road alignment.

Upcoming Closures & Restrictions

Seventh Street at the Pima Freeway

  • The eastbound Pima Freeway frontage road east of Seventh Street will be narrowed to one lane beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, through construction of the Seventh Street interchange.

32nd Street at the Pima Freeway

  • North- and southbound 32nd Street will be closed at the Pima Freeway overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Monday, Nov. 18, through the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 20.
    • Detour: Use Rose Garden Lane or Beardsley Road to Cave Creek Road to cross the Pima Freeway and access 32nd Street.

Hayden Road at the Pima Freeway

  • The westbound Pima Freeway frontage road between Hayden and Scottsdale roads will be closed for approximately one year, beginning at 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, through November 2020.
    • Detour: Drivers can use the westbound Pima Freeway or Legacy Boulevard between Hayden and Scottsdale roads.

Ongoing Closures & Restrictions

19th Avenue at the Pima Freeway

  • The eastbound Pima Freeway on-ramp at 19th Avenue is narrowed to one lane through completion of widening work on the Loop 101 bridge at 19th Avenue.    

15th Avenue at the Pima Freeway

  • The 15th Avenue bridge over the Pima Freeway is closed to north- and southbound traffic through late 2020 for reconstruction of the bridge and other improvements.

Pima Freeway Frontage Road at 15th Avenue

  • The east- and westbound Pima Freeway frontage roads (Beardsley Road) at 15th Avenue are currently narrowed to one lane.

Seventh Street at the Pima Freeway

  • The westbound Pima Freeway on-ramp and the eastbound off-ramp at Seventh Street are closed through March 2020 for reconstruction of the Seventh Street ramps.
    • Detour: Drivers can use the westbound freeway frontage road (Beardsley Road) to Seventh Avenue to access the freeway. Drivers can use the eastbound off-ramp at Seventh Avenue and continue driving east on the frontage road (Beardsley Road) to Seventh Street.
  • The north- and southbound Seventh Street left-turn bays to the east- and westbound Pima Freeway are narrowed to one lane through completion of bridge widening work at Seventh Street.

16th Street at the Pima Freeway

  • Northbound 16th Street is narrowed to one lane at the Pima Freeway, and the southbound shoulder is closed through construction of the Loop 101 bridge at 16th Street.

56th Street at the Pima Freeway

  • The north- and southbound 56th Street left-turn bays to the east- and westbound Pima Freeway are narrowed to one lane through completion of bridge widening work at 56th Street.

Scottsdale Road at the Pima Freeway

  • The north- and southbound Scottsdale Road left-turn bays to the east- and westbound Pima Freeway are narrowed to one lane until Thursday, Nov. 21.

Hayden Road at the Pima Freeway

  • The southbound Hayden Road left-turn bay to the eastbound Pima Freeway is narrowed to one lane for an extended period during construction of the interchange.

The restrictions are needed as the Arizona Department of Transportation continues work on the Pima Freeway improvement project that will add one new travel lane in each direction along the freeway between I-17 and Princess Drive/Pima Road.
