Loop 303/155th Avenue Traffic Interchange Project

Contents

Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), in partnership with the Maricopa Association of Governments and the City of Surprise, has initiated a project to design a new traffic interchange on the north side of Loop 303 at the 155th Avenue alignment. This project seeks to address growing traffic volumes in the Surprise and Sun City West areas and alleviate congestion at the existing US 60/Loop 303 interchange and the US 60/163rd Ave intersection.

Project Elements

This project will create an additional freeway access point for communities located north of Loop 303 and east of US 60. Project elements include:

  • Building a new traffic interchange on the north side of Loop 303 at the 155th Avenue alignment
  • Improving and extending 155th Avenue between Happy Valley Road and the new interchange
  • Improving Pinnacle Peak Road between 163rd and 155th avenues
  • Adding two new bridges over Beardsley Canal to connect the new traffic interchange to Pinnacle Peak Road and 155th Avenue
  • Adding a new bridge where 155th Avenue crosses the McMicken Dam Outlet Channel
  • Designing an extension of McMicken Way from 155th Avenue to 148th Drive
  • Noise analysis to determine if noise mitigation is warranted
