Queen Creek Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Project
Queen Creek Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Project
Overview
The project will implement intelligent transportation system (ITS) infrastructure in several corridors in the town of Queen Creek. These improvements will provide additional technology to manage traffic to improve safety and efficiency. This project is a partnership between ADOT and the town of Queen Creek.
Project Elements
The work consists of installation of fiber optic cabling, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras, connecting fiber to existing traffic signals and other related work.
What to Expect
- Construction is expected to begin in April 2025 and take approximately seven months to complete.
- Initial work will be done off the roadway, and drivers may see crews working in some locations on the sidewalks. Work requiring traffic control is expected to begin in June when fiber optic installation begins.
- Work will be phased in smaller sections of the corridors, requiring lane restrictions in those areas. Some work may take place at night. Any lane restrictions necessary during the day will be scheduled between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
- Advance notice of restrictions and closures will be communicated through the project webpage and the town’s communication channels.
- Access to businesses and residences will be maintained.
