State Route 88: Tomahawk to Buffalo roads Drainage Improvements

Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation will be constructing improvements to the drainage system along SR 88 between Tomahawk and Buffalo roads beginning in mid-February. The project is expected to be completed this summer. The improvements will include the installation of  new pipe culverts for the intersection at SR 88 and Tomahawk Road and modifying three existing culverts in the project area.

What To Expect

  • Sections of SR 88 will be narrowed to one lane only with alternating north- and southbound travel between Vista and Buffalo roads nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Friday nights.
    • Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone during these nightly closures.
  • The intersection of SR 88 and Tomahawk Road will be closed for 50 days beginning in March. Construction hours will be daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. 
  • No weekend work is planned.
