The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers of the following restrictions scheduled for work on the US 60 (Grand Avenue) from 85th Avenue to Interstate 17 pavement project.

  • Westbound Grand Avenue will be narrowed to one lane between Bethany Home Road and Myrtle Avenue nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Monday, Sept. 7, and ending Friday morning, Sept. 11.

Drivers should use caution and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through any work zone.

Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation will be conducting a pavement rehabilitation project along an 11-mile section of US 60 (Grand Avenue) from 85th Avenue to Interstate-17. The project will replace the worn pavement to improve the driving experience and safety.

The project area extends along US 60 (Grand Avenue) between 85th Avenue and I-17.

Project Elements

  • Removing and replacing the existing asphalt pavement
  • Replacing lane striping and other pavement markings
  • Modifying the existing sidewalk curb ramps as needed to comply with Americans with Disability Act standards

Project Schedule

Construction began in early May 2026 and is anticipated to take approximately nine months to complete. The schedule is subject to change based on weather or other unforeseen factors.

What to Expect

  • The project will require overnight lane restrictions on Grand Avenue and cross streets.
  • Access to property will be maintained.
  • The pavement removal will generate some noise and dust; the contractor will be required to follow Maricopa County dust control requirements.
  • ADOT will provide advance notice of restrictions and closures to email subscribers and on the project website.
