The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers of the following scheduled for work on the US 60 (Grand Avenue) from 85th Avenue to Interstate 17 pavement project. 

The following locations will continue to be narrowed to one lane nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. ending Friday morning, June 26:

  • Southbound 43rd Avenue from Medlock Drive to Grand Avenue
  • Eastbound Camelback Road from Grand Avenue to 41st Drive 
  • The westbound Grand Avenue on-ramp and the eastbound Grand Avenue off-ramp at  43rd Avenue
  • Northbound 43rd Avenue left turn lanes to westbound Grand Avenue
  • Sidewalks will also be closed in the work areas. 
  • NOTE: Work will only take place Sunday through Thursday nights.

Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation will be conducting a pavement rehabilitation project along an 11-mile section of US 60 (Grand Avenue) from 85th Avenue to Interstate-17. The project will replace the worn pavement to improve the driving experience and safety.

The project area extends along US 60 (Grand Avenue) between 85th Avenue and I-17.

Project Elements

  • Removing and replacing the existing asphalt pavement
  • Replacing lane striping and other pavement markings
  • Modifying the existing sidewalk curb ramps as needed to comply with Americans with Disability Act standards

Project Schedule

Construction is anticipated to begin in early May 2026 and take approximately nine months to complete. The schedule is subject to change based on weather or other unforeseen factors.

What to Expect

  • The project will require overnight lane restrictions on Grand Avenue and cross streets.
  • Access to property will be maintained.
  • The pavement removal will generate some noise and dust; the contractor will be required to follow Maricopa County dust control requirements.
  • ADOT will provide advance notice of restrictions and closures to email subscribers and on the project website.
