Project Cost: $793,000
Overview
The Arizona Department of Transportation is initiating a project near the McGuireville Rest Area facility on Interstate 17 just north of Camp Verde (milepost 297). The project will install state-of-the-art equipment to improve vehicle weight and safety enforcement operations.
Projct Elements
- Install new weigh-in-motion equipment with Automated Tire Pressure Screening
- Install sensors in the existing pavement of the right-hand lane and shoulder
- Install electrical equipment for the sensors into existing electrical cabinet utilizing existing conduit
- Remove and replace existing in-pavement sensors, controller and loops, as needed
- Remove and replace damaged electrical pull box, as needed
- Replace electrical cabinet, as needed
Construction will begin in late summer 2025 and is scheduled for completion in early 2026.
What to Expect
The rest area will not be closed during the project.
I-17 will be reduced to one lane in each direction near the rest area so crews can safely install loop detectors and perform the other work.
