Overview 

The Arizona Department of Transportation has initiated a pavement preservation project aloThe Arizona Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the Navajo Nation and Hopi Tribe, has initiated a pavement preservation project along US 160 near Tuba City (mileposts 321-335).

Project Elements

  • Remove and replace the top layer of pavement
  • Apply pavement treatments
  • Remove and replace guardrails
  • Repair concrete drainage channels and install concrete channel lining at various locations
  • Repair concrete headwalls and culverts at various locations
  • Extend concrete box culverts
  • Erosion control measures at various locations
  • Remove and replace select signs and sign posts
  • Install new pavement markings
  • Install rumble strips

Project Schedule

Construction is scheduled to begin spring 2026 with completion anticipated for fall 2026.

What to expect:

US 160 will have lane closures and lane shifts through the multi-lane roadway sections. On the two-lane roadway sections, US 160 will be reduced to one lane only with alternating east- and westbound travel. 

  • Work will take place weekdays from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and Fridays until noon on the multi-lane roadway sections in Tuba City.
  • Work will take place from 5  a.m to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and Fridays until noon on the two-lane roadway sections east of Tuba City.
  • Flaggers and a pilot car will guide drivers through the work zone.

ADOT advises drivers to plan for delays while the work is underway.
