Overview

Project Cost: $50,966,991

The Arizona Department of Transportation has initiated a construction project to widen and improve a 5-mile segment of US 93 between Tegner Street and Wickenburg Ranch Way (mileposts 194 - 199) in Wickenburg.

The project straddles two county lines, with about 70% located in Yavapai County and 30% in Maricopa County. This project is part of ADOT's long-term vision to transform this highly traveled route into a four-lane divided highway through the entire 200-mile segment of US 93 in Arizona.

US 93 Tegner St - Wickenburg Ranch Way Project Update

Traffic shift begins in late June as US 93 widening project enters phase 2 of construction

Work continues to progress on the US 93 construction project in Wickenburg that will widen and improve a 5-mile segment of the highway between Tegner Street and Wickenburg Ranch Way.

The project is part of the Arizona Department of Transportation’s long-term vision to transform the entire 200-mile section of US 93 from Wickenburg to the Hoover Dam bypass into a modern four-lane divided highway.

Since construction began earlier this spring, crews have already completed several elements during the first phase of the project, including:

  • Building temporary lanes along US 93 in order to shift traffic over to one side of the highway so crews can begin widening the other side of US 93.
  • Constructing a concrete box culvert that provides drainage for the Amir Wash under the future Tegner Street extension to Rincon Road that will be built later in the project.

Later this month, traffic entering the work zone will be shifted to the temporary lanes as crews begin constructing the new, permanent lanes as part of the highway widening project.

In addition, a temporary traffic signal will be installed just east of the existing Vulture Mine Road and US 93 intersection. The temporary signal, which will be operational by the end of June, will enable motorists to continue driving through the work zone while construction continues on the new roundabout at this location.

Overnight lane restrictions will continue to be in place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday evenings through Friday mornings. No restrictions are anticipated during the day, weekends or holidays to help minimize impacts to the traveling public. As a reminder, parking along the highway is prohibited.
