Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation has initiated a pavement project to replace the worn pavement surface along I-40 between Markham Wash to Seligman TI in Yavapai County (mileposts 108-123).

Project Elements

  • Removing and repaving the existing pavement and replacing it with a new asphaltic concrete and stone matrix asphaltic concrete.

  • Replacing bridge joints and seals, sealing bridge decks, and installing new embankment curb and drainage features.

  • Replacing existing guardrail and guardrail end terminals, and installing pipe and pipe lining.

  • Restriping lane markings, signage and other related work.

Project Schedule

Work is scheduled to begin summer 2026 and be completed late Spring 2027, pending weather conditions.

Schedule subject to change based on weather or other unforeseen factors.

What to Expect

  • Day- and nighttime lane restrictions throughout construction.

  • Limited, short-term lane closures, with one lane open in each direction.

  • Bridge closures for deck work with one lane of alternating traffic with flaggers

  • Night time Ramp closures for paving

  • Motorists should be prepared for delays when work is underway.

  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.

ADOT reminds drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment while the lane restrictions are in place.
