UPDATE: Plan for overnight alternating lane restrictions on Battaglia Drive in Arizona City beginning June 14

The Arizona Department of Transportation, in conjunction with Pinal County, advises motorists traveling on Battaglia Drive in Arizona City to expect overnight alternating lane restrictions beginning Sunday, June 14, as a shoulder widening project gets underway.

The following restrictions will be in place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday tentatively through the end of August:

  • East- and westbound Battaglia Drive will be narrowed to one lane with alternating lane restrictions between Overfield and Henness roads. 
  • Flaggers will guide traffic through the work zone.
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph.
  • A 14-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place.

ADOT reminds drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, be prepared to make frequent stops and watch for construction personnel and equipment.

Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation in partnership with Pinal County is tentatively scheduled to begin work in June 2026 on the Battaglia Drive shoulder widening project between Henness and Overfield roads. The purpose of the project is to construct a wider shoulder to help improve mobility along the corridor.

Project Elements

  •  Widen the shoulder on westbound Battaglia Drive

What to Expect

  • Traffic control devices will guide motorists through the construction area. 
  • Night time work is tentatively scheduled Sunday to Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Expect temporary delays as traffic is redirected through a single travel lane. 
  • ADOT will provide advance notice of restrictions and closures to email subscribers.
