Expect 24/7 lane restrictions to continue through March 20

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers traveling on north- and southbound State Route 387 at milepost 4 in Casa Grande to expect 24/7 lane restrictions as work on an intersection improvement project is extended from Friday, Feb. 6, to Friday, March 20.

Motorists can expect the following around-the-clock restrictions:

  • North- and southbound left-lane restrictions on SR 387 at milepost 4
  • A flagging operation within the work zone is scheduled for the poles installation
  • A speed limit reduction to 25 mph in the work zone

Drivers should allow extra travel time, use caution, be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through all work zones.

Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation in partnership with the city of Casa Grande will begin a project in early 2026 to install a traffic signal at Centennial Boulevard and Pinal Avenue (SR 387). Additional improvements will feature: curb ramps for pedestrian accessibility, a right-turn lane for southbound to westbound traffic, and other related items.

Project Elements:

  • Installing traffic signals, pedestrian push buttons, and lighting on all four corners of the intersection 
  • Constructing new sidewalk ramps 
  • Constructing a right-turn lane from SR 387 to Centennial Boulevard
  • Installing signage
  • Restriping the intersection
  • Other miscellaneous improvements

What to Expect

  • Temporary portable traffic devices will direct traffic through the project area during construction.
  • One lane of travel will be maintained during construction.
  • Construction is tentatively scheduled from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • ADOT will provide advance notice of restrictions and closures to email subscribers and on the project website.

Schedule

The project is scheduled to begin construction in early 2026 and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2026. Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen situations.
