Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation has initiated a project to replace existing light fixtures with new light fixtures on east- and westbound I-10 at Prince Road and north- and southbound I-19 at Valencia Road in Tucson to improve visibility and roadway safety. 

Project Elements

  • Replacing high-pressure sodium luminaires (HPS) with new light emitting diode (LED) fixtures; and 

  • Other miscellaneous improvements.

The project limits extend from I-10 at Prince Road (milepost 254) to I-19 at Valencia Road (milepost 59).

Project Schedule

The project is scheduled to begin construction in summer 2024 and is expected to be completed in spring 2025. Schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Expect short-term lane restrictions and possible lane closures along east- and westbound I-10 and north- and southbound I-19 while fixtures are being replaced. 
  • Temporary portable traffic control signals will be utilized during construction to move motorists through the intersection. 
  • One lane of travel in each direction will be maintained during construction.
  • Construction is tentatively scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. 
  • ADOT will provide advance notice of restrictions and closures to email subscribers.
