I-10: SR 90 to SR 80 Climbing Lane Extension Project
Overview
The Arizona Department of Transportation has initiated a project on Interstate 10 west of Benson between milepost 302.95 and 303.56 in Cochise County. This project seeks to extend the climbing lane on westbound Interstate 10 between State Route 80 on-ramp and SR 90 off-ramp.
Project Elements
- Widening westbound I-10 to extend the existing climbing lane between SR 80 on-ramp to SR 90 off-ramp
- Installing a fog coat, additional lighting, pavement markings and signage
- Repaving the westbound SR 80 on-ramp
Project Schedule
Construction is scheduled to begin January 2025 and is expected to take approximately five months to complete.
Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
What to Expect
This project will involve a full closure of the westbound I-10 on-ramp from SR 80 (4th St), and traffic will be detoured to the eastbound on-ramp towards the next exit at Ocotillo Avenue. I-10 westbound will be limited to a single lane intermittently and only overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday as crews perform work. ADOT will provide advance notice of restrictions and closures to email subscribers and on the project traffic alert web pages.
