Overview
The Arizona Department of Transportation began a project in September 2025 on north- and southbound Interstate 19 near the Canoa Ranch rest areas to install weigh-in-motion systems to replace the existing system controllers.

- Installing weigh-in-motion sensors with Automated Tire Pressure Screening (ATPS)
- Replacing the existing weigh-in-motion system controllers
- Installing loop sensors and connecting the new loops to the existing cabinet
- Installing a sensor plate next to the existing loops
What to expect
- Traffic control devices are in place to guide motorists through the construction area.
- Construction work is scheduled from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Motorists can expect temporary delays as traffic is redirected through a single travel lane.
- ADOT will provide advance notice of restrictions and closures to email subscribers.
Schedule
Construction on this project began September of 2025 and is projected to be completed in October 2025. Schedules are subject to change because of weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
