I-19: Western Ave. Traffic Interchange Bridge Rehabilitation Project
Overview
The Arizona Department of Transportation is tentatively scheduled to begin the Interstate 19: Western Avenue Interchange Bridge rehabilitation project in the spring of 2026. The purpose of the project is to maintain the structural integrity of the two existing bridges.

Project Elements
- Rehabilitate the deck of the existing two bridges and the roadway adjacent to them
- Rehabilitate slope paving under the bridges
- Remove and replace the guardrails
- Install new pavement markers on I-19
What to Expect
- Traffic control devices will guide motorists through the construction area.
- Construction work is tentatively scheduled overnight from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday night through Friday morning
- Expect temporary delays as traffic is redirected through a single travel lane. One lane in each direction will be kept open at all times on I-19 and Western Avenue/Target Range Road
- No detours or full closures of I-19 or Western Avenue/Target Range Road are anticipated to be needed
- ADOT will provide advance notice of restrictions and closures to email subscribers
Schedule
Construction on this project is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2026.
