Contents
Overview
The Arizona Department of Transportation is tentatively scheduled to begin a project in spring 2025 to install and connect Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices to the high-speed fiber optics cable along Interstate 19 starting at milepost 2, near the Nogales Port of Entry to just south of Interstate 10 (milepost 57) in Tucson. The purpose of this project is to provide fiber optic connectivity to existing traffic signals and install new ITS devices at eleven interchanges listed below. This project will include Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras along the corridor.
The work includes installation of conduit and pull-box systems, fiber optic cables and other related work. Also, wrong-way detection (WWD) cameras will be installed at two of the interchange locations. Here is a list of the impacted traffic interchanges:

- Ruby Road Interchange
- Rio Rico Road Interchange
- Peck Canyon Road Interchange
- Palo Parado Road Interchange
- Continental Road Interchange
