State Route 387 (Pinal Avenue) and Viola Street, High Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) Project
Overview
The Arizona Department of Transportation anticipates beginning a project to install High Intensity Activated Crosswalk(HAWK) signals across State Route 387 (Pinal Avenue) at Viola Street in the city of Casa Grande in early 2026. The purpose of the project is to improve safety by providing a designated, protected crossing location across State Route 387 (Pinal Avenue).
Project Elements
- Install HAWK signals across SR 387 (Pinal Avenue) at Viola Street
- Paint crosswalk designated area
- Install signal poles
- Construct ADA ramps
- Extend the existing box culvert
What To Expect
- Traffic along SR 387 will be maintained, lane closures are anticipated during the installation of signal poles.
- Traffic control devices will guide motorists through the construction area.
- Construction work is tentatively scheduled from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Expect temporary delays as traffic is redirected through a single travel lane.
- ADOT will provide advance notice of restrictions and closures to email subscribers.
Schedule
Construction on this project is anticipated to begin winter/spring 2026 and is projected to be completed in summer 2026. Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
