Overview
The Arizona Department of Transportation is tentatively scheduled to begin the State Route 82 San Pedro River bridge (mileposts 60-61) replacement project near Fairbank in the fall of 2026. The work will consist of replacing the existing bridge deck to meet current standards. Additional work includes replacing guardrail and pavement markings.

What to Expect During Construction
- Motorists should prepare for delays during peak travel times.
- Motorists should expect 24/7 lane restrictions as traffic is reduced to a single alternating lane.
- Traffic will be shifted during construction to allow crews to work on one side of the bridge at a time.
- Temporary traffic signals at both ends of the bridge will be used to regulate traffic in each direction.
- During construction, a 10-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place.
- The speed limit will be reduced to 25 MPH.
- ADOT will provide advance notice of restrictions and closures to email subscribers.
Detours
For oversized loads above the 10-foot vehicle width restriction, please use alternate routes. Consider using SR 90 to SR 80.
Project Timeline
Work on this project is anticipated to start in fall 2026 and is expected to be completed by fall 2028. The schedule is subject to change based on weather or other unforeseen factors.
