PHOENIX –The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to plan ahead if they are going to travel on westbound Interstate 10 in the East Valley this weekend.

Westbound I-10 will be closed between US 60 and State Route 143 from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, to 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept.11, as crews with the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project continue to work on the new Broadway Road bridge. 

The following ramps will also be closed:

PAYSON – The Arizona Department of Transportation is starting a pavement replacement project on State Route 87 south of Payson in order to create a smoother driving surface and extend the life of the roadway.

The project will start on Tuesday, Sept. 6, north of the community of Rye and stretch nine miles up to Indian Road, which is mileposts 241 to 250. Drivers heading to and from the Valley and Payson and the White Mountains area should expect lane restrictions and travel delays during the project.

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation’s Enforcement and Compliance Division and the Department of Public Safety want to remind commercial vehicle drivers to make sure their brakes are properly working during Brake for Safety Week Aug. 21-27.

PHOENIX –The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to allow extra travel time and plan to use detours if they are traveling on Interstate 10 in the Southeast Valley this weekend. 

Eastbound I-10 will be closed between US 60 and Loop 202 (Santan/South Mountain Freeway) from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, for paving and installation of traffic counters and overhead signs, as part of the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project. 

The following ramps will be closed:

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) is helping out kids heading back to school. MVD teams just wrapped up a new project called “Tools for Schools” in which they collected school supplies from coworkers. The project was created by MVD's new community engagement program, "MVD Community Connections."

SEDONA – The Arizona Department of Transportation has been working overnight on State Route 89A through Oak Creek Canyon this week to continue improvements to the highway. These overnight full closures will continue next week.

Beginning Monday, Aug. 22, crews will continue to close SR 89A from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. so they can safely work on improvements to the highway.

PHOENIX – Football practices have resumed and shopping for new clothes is done, which must mean school is back. That also means school buses will be driving through the neighborhood picking up, and dropping off, students of all ages. Drivers should expect to wait when the bus’s stop sign arm is extended so children can safely board and exit the bus. However, about 13,000 motorists each year are reported by Arizona school bus drivers for not stopping as required.

PHOENIX –The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to allow extra travel time and plan to use detours if they are traveling on Interstate 10 in the East Valley and near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport this weekend. Eastbound I-10 will be closed between State Route 51 and US 60 from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, to 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, as crews continue bridge work as part of the Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project.

During this closure, the following ramps will be closed:

KINGMAN – The Arizona Department of Transportation has submitted an application for a federal bridge grant that, if awarded, would allocate nearly $73 million toward the construction of the planned West Kingman Traffic Interchange that will provide a free-flowing connection between US 93 and Interstate 40.

PHOENIX –The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists with plans to use State Route 143 this weekend to allow extra time and be ready to use detours while crews with the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project set up work zones and conduct utility work. 

Southbound SR 143 will be closed between the Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) and I-10 from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, to 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug 14. The following ramps will also be closed:

PAYSON - Motorists traveling on State Route 260 between Heber-Overgaard and Payson should plan for daytime delays of up to 30 minutes for the next five months as the Arizona Department of Transportation works on a roadway safety improvement project.

The project will require crews to narrow the highway to a single lane east of Christopher Creek, with work scheduled Mondays through Thursdays from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Restrictions are scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 8 and continue through Dec. 30 roughly between Old Rim Road and Aspen Lane, which is from mileposts 282-305.

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising motorists to plan ahead and be prepared for detours while Broadway Road in Tempe is closed in both directions between 55th and 48th streets from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, to 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8. At the same time, the eastbound Interstate 10 connector ramp between 48th Street and Broadway Road and the I-10 on- and off- ramps at Broadway Road will be closed.

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation and partner agencies will hold a free, virtual event in August through the agency’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program to help small businesses and those owned by individuals from socially and economically disadvantaged groups compete for transportation contracts that receive federal funding.

Westbound Interstate 10 will be closed between US 60 and SR 143 from 10 p.m. Friday, July 29, to 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, as crews continue to work on the new Broadway Road bridge as part of the Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project. 

PHOENIX - July 2022 marks the first full year of active construction of the Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project, and phase one of the project is now complete.

It was July 27, 2021, when crews began removing the rubberized asphalt from I-10 and setting up the work zones; since then, significant progress has been made, most notably in the Broadway Curve itself between Baseline Road and 40th Street.

 Among the accomplishments to date:

The Arizona Department of Transportation will begin a third round of pavement replacement work on the State Route 77/Oracle Road improvement project starting the week of Sunday, July 24, with plans to resurface one mile of the highway in the coming weeks.

The paving will take place between Ina and Magee roads. As with most work on the project, crews will pave the roadway in the overnight hours to minimize restrictions and delays. Work is scheduled Sundays through Thursdays between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising motorists to plan ahead and be prepared for detours this weekend while Broadway Road in Tempe is closed in both directions between 48th and 52nd streets from 10 p.m. Friday, July 22, to 4 a.m. Monday, July 25. At the same time, the eastbound Interstate 10 connector ramp between 48th Street and Broadway Road and the westbound I-10 off-ramp at Broadway Road will be closed. Drivers will not be able to access Broadway Road from 52nd Street and should use University Drive instead. 

FLAGSTAFF – As the Arizona Department of Transportation makes a final push to complete a pavement project on I-40 between I-17 and Walnut Canyon Road in Flagstaff, drivers should expect alternating lane restrictions and delays while traveling through the area.

Beginning Thursday, July 21, there will be alternating lane restrictions on I-40 throughout the 10-mile project area during daytime hours from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Drivers should expect delays of 30 minutes or more.

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising motorists to plan ahead and prepare to use detours this weekend while traveling on Interstate 10 in the Southeast Valley. 

Eastbound I-10 will be closed between US 60 and Loop 202 (Santan/South Mountain Freeway) from 10 p.m. Friday, July 22, to 4 a.m. Monday, July 25. During this closure, crews with the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project will shift work zones into the median to prepare for the installation of digital message boards.
