Full Authority Officer

Location: Statewide

Salary: $49,611.54 - $60,439.18

 An Officer focuses on public safety by protecting life, property and the state transportation infrastructure, by providing safe and efficient movement of commercial traffic through the State of Arizona; enforces all state and federal laws and regulations relative to commercial vehicle enforcement and regulatory compliance. Performs duties to include screening commercial driver/vehicle credentials, weighing commercial vehicles, performing enhanced vehicle identity inspections, registration compliance, commercial vehicle safety inspections, conducting traffic stops on commercial vehicles, enforcement of all pertinent law, rules and regulations and all duties performed by officers.

Full Authority Special Investigator/Detective 

Location: 3838 N. Central Ave. Phoenix/Statewide

Grade: 20

Salary: $60,439.18

A Special Investigator/Detective performs statewide, national, and at times international investigations of highly complex nature, oftentimes involving multiple criminal offenses. Reviewing allegations, complaints or other information to determine/criminal offenses may have been committed. Conducting investigations, including but not limited to; theft, fraud, embezzlement, forgery, conspiracy, fraudulent schemes, political corruption, etc. Conferring with prosecuting attorneys regarding progress of investigations, quality of case files and evidence, drafts of subpoenas, warrants, etc. Preparing affidavits to obtain search warrants, arrest warrants, wiretaps, physical characteristic court orders.

Salary: $43,924.19

The ECD recruit position is a statewide assignment. Individuals are assigned duty location based on the needs of the Arizona Department of Transportation. Occasional overtime and overnight travel may be required. The incumbent will be assigned to one of three shifts and may be rotated, as necessary. Chosen candidates must successfully meet all AZPOST certification requirements. Upon successful completion of training and certification as a peace officer and completion of probation, the incumbent is promoted to the ECD full-authority field officer position.

This position requires possession of a valid Arizona class D driver license. Candidates for this position must complete and sign the Driver Form on page 6 of the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of interview, permitting ADOT to obtain the candidate's motor vehicle record (MVR). The most recent 39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C. R2-10-207.12 (H) and (I). The review must show an acceptable driving record prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT. Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR.

 

Experience and Education

Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma or a successfully completed General Education Development (GED) examination. High school education must be noted on the candidate's resume to receive appropriate credit.

Special Selection Factors

Prior to attending a police academy and/or receiving Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (AZPOST) certification, a candidate must meet these minimum qualifications:

  • Must be a citizen of the United States
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age at the time of AZPOST academy graduation
  • Must successfully pass a complete background investigation, medical examination and polygraph examination that meets the standards of AZPOST
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony (or any offense that would be a felony if committed in Arizona)
  • Must meet all other AZPOST minimum qualifications prior to appointment or attending an academy
  • Must have successfully completed the physical agility test
  • Must successfully complete the examination process
  • May be required to undergo a psychological examination

Peace Officer Physical Aptitude Test

Fitness Event Requirement
99-Yard Obstacle Course Run a 99-yard obstacle course consisting of several sharp turns, a number of curb height obstacles, and a 34-inch high obstacle that must be vaulted.
Body Drag Lift and drag 165-pound, lifelike dummy 32 feet.
Chain-Link Fence Run five yards to a six-foot, chain-link fence, climb over fence, continue running another 25 yards.
Solid Fence Climb Run five yards to a six-foot solid fence, climb over fence, continue running another 25 yards.
500-Yard Run Run 500 yards (equivalent to one lap plus 60 yards of a standard running track).

 

Written Test / Requirements

The written test is made up of four separately timed test sections assessing basic proficiency in arithmetic, reading comprehension, grammar and incident report writing.  The first three sections use multiple-choice and true/false response formats.  The incident report writing section requires the ability to write accurate answers in complete sentences.

Administrative 3

Salary: $44,550.27

Provides critical operational and administrative support to employees and supervisory staff within the Enforcement and Compliance Division. Appropriately applies relevant policies, guidelines, procedures and processes to develop operating policy and procedures necessary to correct operating deficiencies or to improve the provision of services. Is responsible for operating a computer terminal, a multi-line telephone, while maintaining written logs, record keeping activities and reporting processes, budget, purchasing, travel and training for the Enforcement and Compliance Division. Will serve to assist enforcement personnel in facilitating communication with/between a range of external contacts; and will assist in coordinating administrative activities related to ECD.

Program Project Specialist 1

Location: 3838 N. Central Ave. Phoenix

Grade: 18

Salary: $46,200.12

Provide a range of confidential services in a timely and secure manner to law enforcement, government agencies and individuals. Responsible for receiving, reviewing and analyzing affidavits and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy prior to submission to the court for approval; provide information and documents to assist in criminal or administrative investigations. Works closely with the superior court staff, government agency liaisons involved with the Redaction Program to maintain an understanding of program requirements for the application process and internal/external customers of the Program. Monitor and test system programs (both in testing and production phases for new and potential upgrades) identify issues and work closely with programmers and business analysts to resolve issues. Create complex test scripts ensuring all affected programs and aspects of the various workflow processes are working correctly.

Customer Service Representative 2

Location: Statewide

Grade: 15

Salary: $34,713.54

Performs a variety of customer service activities at an ECD Field Office or Port of Entry. To interpret and communicate the provisions of state and federal motor vehicle codes pertaining to size/weights applicable to ECD Port Operations. May screen and weigh or assist with weighing commercial vehicles. Examines vehicle registrations and other documents to determine authenticity. Issue permits and calculates, collects appropriate fees and taxes and completes associated cash reconciliations. Is responsible for security of cash receipts, information and a wide variety of accountable forms. Regulates, through permit issuance domestic and foreign-based commercial vehicle traffic entering and exiting the State. Answers various inquiries and resolve customer service problems and/or concerns to include transportation personnel, law enforcement agencies, title and registration offices and other governmental and private entities.

Dispatcher 2

Location: 3838 N. Central Ave. Phoenix

Grade: 15

Salary: $44,146.13

A Dispatcher is responsible in answering emergency and non-emergency calls statewide in support of the Enforcement and Compliance Bureau, Office of Inspector General, Attorney General's Office, and the Arizona Department of Agriculture, Livestock Division using a multi-line telephone system and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System. Dispatchers are responsible for fast, efficient and accurate receiving, dispatching and processing of calls and messages from and to personnel on an assigned shift. Dispatchers conduct research, enters, updates and retrieves information from computerized databases relating to wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, stolen vehicles, and other related information in accordance with policy and procedure.
