The Engineer in Training (EIT) program is designed to develop tomorrow’s leaders for the Arizona Department of Transportation. This hands-on program offers practical training and real-world experience to help you achieve your educational goals and launch your professional engineering career.
Program Overview
- Duration:
- 6-8 years
- Two-year Rotation Program
- 4-6 years in non-competitive Transportation Engineering positions
- Time is based on completion of your PE Exam and years of service
- Eligibility:
- Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering technology, construction management or related fields
- Requirement:
- Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam before completing the Two year Rotation Program
- Passing your Professional Engineer (PE) test
During the program, you’ll gain diverse experience through rotations across various ADOT departments, working closely with registered professionals and paraprofessionals. Your training will be tailored and mentored by the Program Manager and the State Engineer’s Office to ensure broad exposure and professional growth.
