Arizona "Protect Our Environment" Specialty License Plate.

The holiday season is already here, leaving many scrambling to find meaningful gifts for their loved ones that fit within their budget and will arrive quickly. Look no further! We’ve got you covered with these gifts for the Arizonans in your life.

Specialty License Plates

Does your loved one have an Arizona sports team or cause that they support? Chances are, there’s a specialty license plate for it. There are now over 100 specialty license plates to pick, from The Phoenix Suns and Arizona colleges to Girl Scouts and First Responders.

Specialty license plates are only $25 for the year, and $17 of that goes to the designated charity or program associated with the plate. You can see all the plates and learn about each one at azmvdnow.gov/plates.

Note: You can buy someone else a specialty plate as long as you have the last two digits of the vehicle identification number, the number of the plate being replaced and the recipient's name and address.

Adopt a Highway

Forget adopting a star as a gift, adopt a highway in someone’s honor instead. Besides the sign with their name on it, you can also give your family and friends the gift of a bonding experience, and give back to your community at the same time.

You can learn more about the Adopt a Highway program at azdot.gov/AdoptAHighway.

Emergency Travel Kit

Looking for a gift for a road trip enthusiast? Consider giving them an emergency travel kit. You can buy premade ones online, or assemble personalized ones yourself using this list of items for a reference (or any of the items could make great stocking stuffers):

  • Jumper cables
  • Safety flares
  • A portable phone charger
  • First aid kit
  • Travel tool kit
  • Flashlights and batteries
  • Snack Foods

It’s especially important for travelers to be prepared during the winter months in case they find themselves stuck in their cars due to a weather event or closure, so now is the perfect time to give someone extra blankets or warm clothes to keep in their car.

You can find a complete list and learn more at azdot.gov/KnowSnow.

Arizona Highways Magazine

You could always consider gifting your favorite Arizona-lover a subscription to Arizona Highways Magazine. They also have a shop featuring calendars, t-shirts, copper items and more that celebrate the great 48th state.

Pet Harness

Are you looking for a gift for a pet lover (or your own pet)? The safest way to travel with your pet in the car is with them in the backseat in a carrier, crate or harness attached to the seatbelt. The Center for Pet Safety’s website has a list of crash-tested options you can consider.
