There's a lot of excitement out there when we provide updates on potential passenger rail service between the Phoenix and Tucson areas. We recently announced that ADOT is moving to the second step of the federal Corridor Identification and Development Program.
This episode of On the Road With ADOT looks at where we've been and where we're going on passenger rail. The next step will yield a Service Development Plan addressing things such as stations, frequency of service and the cost of establishing service. That will take about two to three years, followed by completing a Tier 2 Environmental Impact Statement.
The final result will be a fully developed plan for passenger rail so policymakers can decide on moving forward.
The main takeway of this conversation: This process is moving forward, and moving forward is a good place to be.
