You might recognize the structure shown above as Navajo Bridge. But did you know that when this photo was taken, in 1929, those two people were looking at Grand Canyon Bridge?

Among the many blogs we've done on Navajo Bridge through the years is one by yours truly looking at the long battle over the original name Grand Canyon Bridge, given that the bridge spans Marble Canyon and is quite a ways from the Grand Canyon proper.

In this week's episode of On the Road With ADOT, I chat with host Doug Nintzel about a scrape that drew in two Arizona governors, state lawmakers, federal officials and the president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, among others. Give it a listen and you might come away with a new appreciation for a structure that remains a landmark for people traveling to and from the Arizona Strip and Grand Canyon's North Rim on US 89A.
