If your main reason for using the Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) in north Scottsdale is attending the WM Phoenix Open, big changes have happened over the past year. Thanks to a recently completed ADOT project, the stretch between Shea Boulevard and Princess Drive/Pima Road now has four lanes in each direction and an upgraded interchange at Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard, among other improvements.
Joe Heller, our resident engineer in charge of the project, visits On the Road With ADOT to discuss this $108 million improvement and a coming project there to use diamond grinding to provide a smooth, durable driving surface. Spend some time with Joe and host Doug Nintzel and you'll be in the know about a project that has dramatically improved a key stretch of freeway in Scottsdale.
ADOT plans and constructs new freeways, additional lanes and other improvements in the Phoenix area as part of the Regional Transportation Plan administered by the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG).
