National Junior Honor Society students from Mohave Accelerated Learning Center Key Club and Young Scholar’s Academy gave back to the community in a big way by cleaning up trash along State Route 95 near Valencia  in Fort Mohave.

The civic group Make Bullhead Better welcomes individuals and groups including these two student organizations to support cleanups in the most needed areas of the community on the first Friday of every month. The organization received a one-day permit from ADOT for the Oct. 3 event, which included about 35 students who pitched in to fill 40 bags of trash. That’s more than 550 pounds of litter, plus an additional pile of large debris rounded up for ADOT maintenance crews to dispose of properly.

Make Bullhead Better Founder and President Grace Hecht said, “It’s just a good way for us to take care of our area, it’s easy to do and just takes a one hour commitment.”

ADOT thanks Grace and the volunteers involved for choosing the Adopt a Highway Volunteer program as a way to give back to Bullhead City and surrounding community. Your contribution fosters a sense of accomplishment and encourages continued involvement to help reduce trash along Arizona’s highways.

Please visit azdot.gov/adoptahighway for information about the Adopt a Highway Volunteer Program. It’s a great way to contribute to your community.
